Mettle Filtration Products manufactures an array of extruder screens to cover all polymer processing to ensure clean and precise extrusion results. Extruder screens are manufactured single-layer or multi-layer wire filtration systems that are welded together. These screens can be made into all different shapes and sizes, using a variety of different materials.

MFP extruder products are available as spot weld packs, framed packs, pleated packs, cones, and cylinders. Offering extruder products in various materials, weaves, and micron ratings, Mettle can precisely match your quality, efficiency, care and maintenance requirements, be it standard or specialized.

Candle Filters

Candle filters, named for their candle-like shape, are made of stainless steel mesh and come in different shapes and sizes. The key features of filter candles are assembly by welding, bonding or crimping, allows for maximum length without intermediary jointing, pleated or non-pleated media, and are available in a variety of dimensions.

Copper Gauze

Mettle Filtration Products offers Copper Gauze for use in various industrial applications, specifically in plastic processing operations. Copper Gauze is primarily used in the plastics industry to clean precision parts such as extrusion equipment, moldings, dies, screws and other related machinery in a safe manner that avoids scratching and in a fraction of the time compared to alternative cleaning products. This Mettle product assists in significantly reducing process downtime, allowing for additional machine output.

Custom Cut Pieces

With a vast library of dies and extensive customization capability, Mettle manufactures extruder screens as Cut Pieces in virtually any shape, size, or mesh. These cut pieces come in single-layer and multi-layer extruders, and in numerous types of mesh combinations and weaves in order to precisely match each customer’s filtration specifications and extrusion process objectives.

Cylinders, Cones, & Domes

Mettle Filtration Products manufacture all sizes and shapes of screens and filters including cylinders and cones. Whether a customer needs that are long, short, single or multi-layered, Mettle can provide these specialty products according to their unique specifications.

Framed Packs

Manufactured in a similar fashion, framed packs contain unique filter combinations that are seamlessly framed in aluminum, copper, or stainless steel. Frames can be tailored to exact dimensions and tolerances. These framed packs provide strict quality control, and ensure better sealing around the edge of the breaker plate to improve overall process performance.

Gaskets & Seals

A gasket is a flat metal rim that mirrors the shape and size of the screen it will be used with. Gaskets serve to prevent seepage of the melt that is being extruded. Whether they are for brand new equipment designs or replacement parts for existing processes, MFP can custom manufacture and provide the necessary product to assist with your extrusion processing.

Leaf Discs

Leaf disc filters are processed by sintered wire cloth or metal media, making it ideal for high-molecular polymer filtration applications. Ranging in a variety of sizes and hub configuration, these unique designed filters are available to meet your requirements. The disc-like construction maximizes the filtration area of the product while minimizing the residence time of the polymer, which ultimately reduces the overall risk of polymer degradation. Leaf discs are designed to achieve smoother filtration flow and have a longer service life.

Pleated Packs

Pleated packs, also known as extended area screens, are manufactured with multiple layers of lightweight compacted wire cloth, woven to precision, that assists in avoiding clogs and possible damages that unwanted particles present. Material type, pleat spacing, and pleat height are carefully determined during a consultation process, as is the viscosity, flow rate, pressure drop, and desired pack life. Pleated packs provide greater surface area than flat screen packs, as well as the ability to filter finer contaminates without compromising filter life.

Reverse Dutch Weave (continuous rolls)

With heavier wire woven in the warp direction, rolls of Reverse Dutch Weave (RDW) rolls provide the required strength best suited for high-pressure situations. RDW stainless steel wire cloth allows for precise filtration and can be utilized in chemical, petroleum, pharmacy, food, and other fields.

Slit Coils

Slitting is a metal manufacturing process that slits a coil of material, such as steel, into client's specific lengths and widths. These coils have better superior corrosion resistant properties and have great welding and forming attributes. These coiled rolls can be applied in the industrial, transportation, and architectural fields. Excellent performance in many different temperature climates and atmospheric environments, slit coils have great oxidation resistance.

Spot Welded Packs

Spot Weld Screen Packs are fabricated by resistance-welding, or spot welding multiple screens together at precise points that avoid disturbing the polymer flow. The placement and number of spot welds can be customized for your individual process. Spot weld screen packs allow for better inventory control, improvements in process control and quality, and an ease overall operation.

Wire Cloth

MFP offers a vast supply of Wire Cloth in a wide range of meshes and materials. With efficient wire cloth processing capabilities, MFP is able to customize our extensive inventory to meet customer requirements and satisfaction. From slitting and cutting, to more specialized fabrication, Mettle strives to meet all challenges and expectations. We stock wire cloth in standard 304 and 316 grade stainless steel, as well as bronze, inconel, brass, aluminum, copper, monel and other alloys. Submit inquiries with all specifications. "
